FAQs about Golden Care Teak Protector
What’s the best way to apply G.C. Teak Protector?
First things first, prep work is key, regardless if it is a new setting or if it is 40 years old. If it is in fact is a new setting that has just been delivered it typically benefits from being exposed to the elements for 3-6 weeks. New teak can experience natural oil surfacing that appears like a “watermark” or irregular pattern of discolouration. Once that process is finished you can easily sand the affected areas with 120-240 grit sandpaper.
Check-list when staining Teak outdoor furniture.
Use drop sheets
Test in an inconspicuous area (the underside) before starting.
Remove all sawdust from the Teak outdoor furniture before staining
Pour the product into a lint free cloth or an absorbent sponge.
Don’t over-apply, better to start with a thin coat, but ensure coverage.
Always clean, sand and stain along the timber-grain.
When going across gaps, or edges avoid run-marks by not applying too much pressure.
You don’t have to do one board, slat at the time even if we typically enjoy doing it that way.
If you apply too much, wipe it off straight away. Work with an extra cloth in the other hand.
Follow the recommendations on the bottle in terms of drying time.
Thickness and number of coats will determine colour
